A PAIR OF SOAPSTONE ‘LION’ SEALS MADE FOR 民國乙卯年（1915）
YUAN SHIKAI 張樾丞刻壽山石獅鈕袁世凱用印一對（305 克、300 克）

Each square seal is surmounted by a lion placing his paw on a 印文：容盦之璽；邊款：乙卯春樾丞恭篆
brocade ball, accompanied by two cubs. One seal is incised on the
side with an inscription reading ‘Respectfully made by Zhang Yin 張樾丞（1883—1961），名福蔭，以字行，1909 年，經寶熙引薦，為清

This pair of seals was made for Yuan Shikai by the renowned master
Zhang Yuecheng (1883-1961), who made seals for numerous important
figures from the late Qing to Republic period including Puyi, Duan Qirui,
Wu Peifu, Feng Yuxiang, Bai Chongxi.
