supported on four taotie masks over columnar
legs encircled by two raised bands, the sides
of the vessel decorated with raised bosses
and divided by flame-shaped flanges, the rim
set with a pair of upright ruyi-form handles
resting on the square-cut rim, the tapered
rectangular cover similarly carved and
surmounted by a Buddhist lion and cub-form
finial, the translucent white stone with icy-white
inclusions, two Japanese wood boxes (6)
height 8⅜ in., 21.2 cm
