QING DYNASTY, 18TH CENTURY
set over a spreading foot, the deep body
flaring slightly toward the everted rim and set
with a pair of chilong-form handles, the sides
decorated with archaistic motifs and scrolling
lotus all against a turquoise-blue ground,
between a lappet band encircling the foot and
a band of ruyi at the rim, the pierced, gilt-metal
cover of similar decoration and surmounted by
a finial in the form of a crouching Buddhist lion
toying with a brocade ball, removable gilt-metal
liner (3)

with four gilt-metal bamboo-style flanges,
enameled overall with colorful scrolling lotus
