the globular body supported on a spreading
foot and rising to a columnar neck with an
everted rim, a raised fillet encircling the neck,
the body painted in dark cobalt with two chilong
each pursuing a ‘flaming pearl’ amid flame
scrolls, all under a translucent medium-blue
glaze, the interior and base glazed white
height 9½ in., 24 cm

QING DYNASTY, 18TH CENTURY
of generous proportions, the larger lower bulb
rising to a broad shoulder before rounding
inward to the cinched waist and expanding
again to form the bud-shaped upper bulb flaring
at the mouth, covered evenly allover in a bright
turquoise glaze save for the base
height 13⅜ in., 34 cm
