A large famille verte octagonal
baluster vase and cover
Kangxi
The four wider sides of the vase variously
enamelled with a boatman rafting on a river
beneath two scholars conversing, a humming bird
in flight above a lotus pond, a boy offering a qin to
a seated scholar in a landscape and a green bird
flying above tree peony, the narrower sides each
with two tree shrews clambering over bunches
of grapes, the shoulder with precious objects
alternating with butterflies and flowers issuing from
rockwork, the neck with further rockwork and floral
sprays, the cover also with scholarly objects and
floral sprays beneath the octagonal finial.

A large famille verte vase and cover
Kangxi
Painted and gilt around the exterior with three
rows of fully blossoming stylised flowers in an
alternating triple register issuing from a continuous
leafy meander between a lappet border above the
foot and a zigzag band at the shoulder, all below a
row of floral sprays encircling the neck, the domed
cover with a similar design surmounted by a
gilt-decorated lion finial.
