Ming Dynasty, 16th century
The compressed globular body decorated in
red, white, blue, yellow and green enamels
with lotus flowers borne on meandering
stems, the tall neck splaying out to a trumpet
mouth similarly decorated, separated by a
lappet band to the neck and shoulder, the
rim and foot decorated with bands of linghzi
scrolls, the interior with additional repeating
motif, the base with a single lotus medallion,
all against a turquoise ground. 11.8cm (4

a kingfisher among a pond among lotus
blossoms and foliage, the cavetto and rim
with stylised floral bands, the reverse with
further lotus flowers, all against a turquoise
