A GILT-SPLASHED BRONZE VASE,
FANGHU

QING DYNASTY (1644-1911)
The vase is of rectangular cross-section, the rounded sides rising
from a tall foot narrowing at the neck flanked by two animal-
mask handles, the dark brown metal highlighted with irregular
gilt-splashes. The base with a twelve-character seal mark reading
Xuande ernian Zhou Yi wei Xiuhuang zhuren zhi ( made by Zhou
Yi for the master of Xiuhuang in the second year of Xuande).
