A GILT-BRONZE FIGURE OF BUDDHA AKSHOBYA
16TH CENTURY
明十六世紀 鎏金銅阿閦佛坐像
Buddha Akshobya is seated in dhyanasana on a double-lotus base with his
hands held in bhumisparshamudra. He is dressed in monk’s robes and his
face is serene, with a gentle smile and downcast eyes, his hair is dressed in
tight curls and tied in a topknot. A vajra is in front of him on the base.

MING DYNASTY, 17TH CENTURY
明十七世紀 掐絲琺瑯蓮紋盞托
The central raised section is decorated with a fower
head, all surrounded by boldly coloured scrolling lotus
blooms. The rim is encircled by a band of ruyi-heads.
The reverse is decorated with further scrolling fowers.
