                                                                                     MING DYNASTY (1368-1644)

                                                                   The rounded sides are carved as petals bound
                                                                   by a bowstring band, and the bowl is covered
                                                                   inside and out with a glaze of sea-green color
                                                                   that continues over the foot and onto the
                                                                   base to the edge of an unglazed circle burnt
                                                                   brick-red in the fring.
                                                                     5 in. (12.7 cm.) diam.
