A LONGQUAN CELADON ‘PHOENIX TAIL’
VASE
MING DYNASTY (1364-1644)
The bulbous body and the neck of the
elegantly potted vase are carved with bold
patterns of large fower heads borne on leafy
scroll, and the splayed foot with a band of
stylized lotus petals. It is covered overall in
a soft, pale sea-green glaze suffused with
crackle.
