18TH-19TH CENTURY The bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara shown standing on swirling, froth-
capped waves holds a lotus stem in her left hand and wears a shawl
The seated bodhisattva is shown leaning on a tri-lobed arm rest with and layered robes that sweep to the side and are open at the chest
