the four characters, Emituofo (Amitabha
Buddha), encircling the bowl, each character
separated by a seated bodhisattva or an image
of Budai with a rosary in hand, a staggered
lappet band round the stem above alternating
intertwining foliate and diamond pattern
motifs, the mouth and foot rims dressed with a
brown wash, coll. no. 425
