Late Qing Dynasty
Comprising: a purple silk damask informal ladies’ robe, boldly
embroidered with butterflies and peonies roundels in vibrant colours,
135cm (53 1/8in) long; a cream damask robe embroidered with
chrysanthemum roundels, 125.5cm (49in) long; and a light blue
informal jacket, ao, embroidered with baskets of flowers and sprays of
fruit and flowers, 102cm (40 1/8in) long.

A BLUE SUMMER GAUZE ‘NINE DRAGONS’ ROBE
Late Qing Dynasty
Embroidered with eight gilt-thread, writhing dragons across a sky of
Buddhist Symbols and polychrome clouds, a further dragon to the
internal fold, all above a gold lishui band at the hem; together with
four red silk ground circular panels decorated with panels of fruit and
flowers in polychrome and gilt thread. The robe: 133cm (52 3/8in) long
(5).
