A YELLOW JADE ‘LOTUS ROOT’ BRUSHREST The lotus root with blossom represents the rebus for ‘wishes for
18th century happiness and fruitfulness in marriage’. Small jade carvings such as
Naturalistically carved as a slender lotus root with four nodes wreathed by the present lot were used on the scholar’s desk for various purposes,

此筆架造型別緻,採用圓雕、浮雕及鏤雕技法將荷葉、荷花及蓮藕雕
刻栩栩如生,製作精巧。此類玉雕屬於文房陳設玉器,置於案桌可
作筆架,亦可用於欣賞,頗有意趣。參看清宮舊藏一件白玉蓮藕筆
架,現藏於中國國家博物館(博物館編號t20181218.24663)。台北
故宮博物院藏有另一白玉蓮藕筆架,見《Jade: From Emperors to Art
