effaced inscription likely reading Wang Xiaoting Xie [yu] Penpu keci; all

The son of the well-known Republic era ceramicist Wang Yeting, Wang
Xiaoting remained active through the founding of the People’s Republic
and its early years before dying in the Cultural Revolution. Though a
later artist, the landscapes in the present lot compare favorably with
the finest work of his father (see the landscape offered in our Hong
Kong rooms as lot 128, sale 24017, 30 May 2017) or other giants of
the Republic period (see the set of four landscapes by Tian Hexian
offered in our San Francisco rooms as lot 8180, sale 24262, 27 June
2017).
