A LARGE DOUCAI ENAMELED FIGURAL DISH
Kangxi
The large flat central well displaying an elaborate figural tableau of
recluse scholars and attendants on boats within a mountainous
lake of bridges, pavilions and distant pagodas, the surrounding
deep cavetto covered in flowers and trees separated by bands of
repeating geometric patterns; the unadorned underside raised on a
circular foot.

Doucai porcelains with decoration this elaborate from the Kangxi
period appear to be rather rare. A pair of octagonal jardinieres
originally from the collection of the Cleveland Museum were offered
at Christies in New York as lot 358 in their sale of 21 September
2000.

A DOUCAI PORCELAIN STICK NECK VASE
Qianlong mark
The tall cylindrical neck surmounting an ovoid body, the exteriors
all covered in a dense ground of vine and lotus surrounding
contending dragons, the recessed base bearing the six-character
mark in underglaze blue.

Mid-19th century
Consisting of an oval platter and a well-and-tree platter, both with
alternating fan-shaped reserves of figures in a garden and birds
and flowers on a gilt spiral ground surrounding a central rose and
butterfly group, gilt rims.
