A LARGE LONGQUAN CELADON JAR
YUAN-EARLY MING DYNASTY, 14TH CENTURY

The jar is carved with a wide central band of peony scroll set above a petal band and is covered
overall with a glaze of olive-green color ending at the top of the thick unglazed foot which
has fred dark orange and cants inward towards the inset base.
10Ω in. (26.6 cm.) high, Japanese wood box

Ryuzaburo Umehara (1888 - 1986).

A similar Longquan celadon jar is in the collection of the Victoria & Albert Museum, no. 712-1883.
