A LONGQUAN CELADON PHOENIX-TAIL
VASE
LATE YUAN-EARLY MING DYNASTY, EARLY TO
MID-14TH CENTURY
The body is carved with a band of leafy
peonies above a bow-string border and a
lower band of upright petals, and the waisted
neck is carved with concentric rings, all
under a glaze of sea-green color. The inside
of the foot and deeply recessed base are
similarly glazed.

A LONGQUAN CELADON LIANZI BOWL
MING DYNASTY, 15TH CENTURY
The bowl has deep rounded sides and is
freely carved in the interior with peony,
loquat and chrysanthemum. The exterior is
carved with two bands of upright lotus petals
below a band of foral scroll. The whole is
covered with a glaze of soft olive-green color
that continues over the foot onto the base
where there is an unglazed ring burnt orange
in the fring.
