A BLUE AND WHITE ‘DRAGON’ BOWL
DAOGUANG SIX-CHARACTER SEAL MARK IN
UNDERGLAZE BLUE AND OF THE PERIOD (1821-
1850)
The exterior is decorated in vibrant shades
of cobalt blue with two sinuous dragons
chasing a faming pearl amidst clouds. The
interior has a central medallion enclosing a
further fve-clawed dragon.

Private collection, New York, acquired
in the 1960s, and thence by descent to the

JIAQING SIX-CHARACTER SEAL MARK IN
UNDERGLAZE BLUE IN A LINE AND OF THE PERIOD
(1796-1820)
The bowl is painted on the exterior with
lanAa characters amidst dense lotus scroll, and
is supported on a faring stem foot decorated
with beaded tassels below ruyi and foral
borders.
