AN UNUSUAL LARGE DOUCAI ‘CHILONG’ CUP
18TH CENTURY
Of oval section, the deep cup is decorated on the exterior and
rounded base with chilong clambering amidst lotus scroll, and is
applied on one side with an iron-red handle in the form of a chilong
climbing up to the rim where it peers into the interior.

A DOUCAI OVOID JAR
18TH-19TH CENTURY
The body is decorated with leafy, scrolling stems of hibiscus bearing
two large fowers in iron red alternating with further blooms in
mauve and yellow, all below a band of key fret on the shoulder and
fower sprays on the neck.
