amid what are probably stylized clouds. Below that is a nar-
row band of closely spaced dots. The thick base is glazed, and
the footrim has a thin layer of glaze. Faint kiln scars can be
seen on the footrim.
The indented lip of this cup may have been inspired by con-
temporary Chinese tea bowl design. The scene of waterfowl
swimming among aquatic plants is a common motif found
on Goryeo objects of various mediums and may have evolved
from Chinese painting compositions of the same theme. The
collector vividly remembers his grandparents using this cup
to drink from.
