The flared foot may have been influenced by products of the
Yue kilns in China, which often copied the forms of silver
vessels. The dish-shaped mouth, which developed from Chi-
nese ceramics design, acted as a funnel, facilitating the pour-
ing of liquids into the bottle. This type of bottle was used to
hold beverages such as wine.
