he relatively high neck of this jar suggests a nineteenth-
Tcentury date. Three floral motifs, possibly orchids, are
painted in a delicate light blue, equidistant from each other
on the shoulder of the squat, globular jar. The base is glazed
and has adhesions of sand. The footrim is free of glaze. A
ring of kiln grit can be seen inside the well of this jar.
The adhesions of sand seen inside this jar indicate there was
another smaller piece of ceramic placed into this vessel when it
was fired in order to make the best use of space. This jar would
have functioned to store condiments or other foodstuffs.
