A JUNYAO DEEP BOWL
SONG-JIN DYNASTY, 12TH-13TH CENTURY
The bowl has deep, rounded sides that rise from the small, slightly fared foot
and is covered overall with a glaze of pale blue color suffused with a fne crackle
that thins to mushroom at the rim and ends in an irregular line above the foot.

Mrs. Samuel T. Peters (1859-1943), nee Adeline Elder, donated hundreds of
pieces of Chinese pottery and porcelain to The Metropolitan Museum of Art
in 1926. Samuel T. Peters, her husband, was a Museum trustee from February
16, 1914 until his death on October 21, 1921. Mr. Peters was a notable
Chinese art collector and donated nearly 400 jades to the museum.
