Each carefully potted with a wide and deep
well, the exterior walls tapering sharply
inward above the tall foot and painted with
squirrels scampering among tangled grape
vines, the recessed base bearing the six-
character mark in underglaze blue standard
script inscribed within a double ring.

BLUE AND WHITE DECORATION
19th century
Each of faceted drum shape molded with
a faux-bamboo pattern surrounding four
shaped reserves painted in cobalt blue on a
white ground with seasonal blossoms and
two reserves of bats and tasseled chimes
combined with cash patterned openings
that repeat on the top surrounded by bats,
all en suite in cobalt, the remaining exterior
surfaces colored in a pale olive glaze (wear
from use).

Late Qing/Republic period
Each jar of compressed baluster form,
painted with mirror images of a landscape
setting for fisherman and his young son
standing with their fishing poles and another
fisherman watching a bird land upon his
floating fish trap, the landscape set between
bands of cloud collars on the shoulder and
jeweled lappets above flared base supported
on a set-in foot; the domed covers also
painted with landscape motifs.
