QING DYNASTY, QIANLONG PERIOD
of rounded irregular form fashioned in varying layers of depth
with a craggy mountainscape, the front depicting two cranes
facing a fast owing waterfall cascading over a precipice,
beneath a pine tree, the reverse carved with a further tree
branch extending from jagged rockwork, the stone of an even
white colour, wood stand

intricately carved in openwork with a ferocious dragon
writhing within a dense network of leaves and oral blossoms,
intertwined with birds, supported on a slightly domed oval base
pierced with eight small apertures, the tone of an even white
stone with dark ecks, wood stand
