raised, the other crouching down, each with elaborate plumage, in flight; a compressed ovoid vase decorated with sparrows, bamboo
unsigned. and flowering cherry tree; the last with hibiscus reserved on a sky blue

opposite side carved with a bamboo vase holding a small spray of pine

5016 type and carved with the legend Omi hakkei (Eight Views of Omi),

Of baluster form and decorated with a cockerel and hen feeding in 8 1/8 and 7 3/4in (20.8 and 19.9cm) long
a flowering landscape with iris, wisteria, chrysanthemum, Chinese
bell flower, bush clover and other types of blossoms picked out in US$1,000 - 1,500
polychrome enamels on a mirror black enamel ground, the rim and
foot with bands of seigaiha design in shades of purple (wear to gilt rim

A GROUP OF FIVE METAL ITEMS
Late Edo period/Meiji era
Comprising a rectangular cigarette case, damascened with silver and US$1,500 - 2,500
gold on steel, the front depicting a Heian era courtier and beauty on
a veranda, the reverse with a peacock in a flowering landscape, each
within a border of linked vines, the decorated interior with dedication
and signed Nihon-kuni Kyoto-ju Komai-sei, with silver fittings; and an
assembled group of four mixed metal decorated bronze fuchi (2) and
kashira (2), the Goto-school kashira fitted as a broach and one fuchi
signed Noriyuki (d. 1787).
