AN EMBROIDERED BLUE SILK GAUZE DRAGON ROBE
Late Qing dynasty
The bright blue ground embroidered in couched gilt-wrapped threads
with eight four-clawed dragons, the surrounding auspicious emblems,
cloud scrolls and wide lishui border all embroidered in counted stitch
with brightly hued silk floss, the black ground gauze neck bands and
cuffs embroidered en suite, the inside flap also worked with flowers
and waves but lacking the ninth dragon usually found here (some
surface wear, minor soiling).
