A RARE GOLD-LACQUER SHINTO CEREMONIAL KUWA (HOE) A BLACK-LACQUER KYOSOKU (ARM REST)

The roiro ground decorated in gold hiramaki-e with kikyo-mon (Chinese Decorated in gold and slight-coloured takamaki-e and hiramaki-e with
bellflower crests) scattered among sprays of pine, the top and bottom highlights of e-nashiji and kirikane with a pair of ho-o birds flying above
section fitted with matching brass mounts engraved with karakusa flowering paulownia branches extending almost across the entire width
(‘Chinese grasses’); the blade gold-lacquered except the kuwaba and pine saplings, on a ground scattered with three Tosa kashiwa
(blade edge), revealing a dark steel alloy; the bottom stamped with a mon, the legs similarly lacquered, the underside of mura-nashiji;
