                                                             mid/late 19th century
                                                             Each lacquered in gold hiramaki-e and takamaki-e: the first an
                                                             octagonal four cabriole-legged stand decorated with an all-over design
                                                             of trailing kuyo-mon (family crests representing the nine heavenly
                                                             bodies) among fruiting tachibana, 8cm x 21cm; the second a kikikoro
                                                             (incense ‘listening’ vessel) for containing gin’yo (literally ‘silver leaf’
                                                             on which to burn the incense), decorated with a continuous scene
                                                             depicting sailing boats and fishing nets within a lakescape, 7.1cm
                                                             (2¾in) high; the third a small lacquered wood fubako embellished with
                                                             overlapping chrysanthemum heads, unsigned, 3.2cm x 19.3cm (1¼in
                                                             x 7 5/8in); the fourth and fifth two fan-shaped, miniature gold boxes,
                                                             the sixth a miniature rectangular kobako decorated with two rabbits,
                                                             all unsigned, the largest: 1.5cm x 4.3cm (5/8in x 1 5/8in). (11).

                                                             The overlapping lid and body decorated in gold hiramaki-e with an
                                                             all-over design depicting symbols of longevity comprising young pine,
                                                             minogame (bushy-tailed longevity turtles), cranes and sasa (bamboo)
                                                             on a nashiji ground; unsigned.

                                                             slight-coloured takamaki-e and hiramaki-e with embellishments of
            113                                              kirikane and shell depicting flowering irises on one fan and stylised
                                                             tendrils of chrysanthemums on the gunbai-shaped fan, the interior and
                                                             underside of rich nashiji, the sides of the box of kinji; unsigned.
