                                                             FRAMED WITHIN A WOOD KENBYO (TABLE SCREEN)
                                                             Attributed to Suzuki Yoshihiko (1884-1969), Taisho (1912-1926)
                                                             or Showa (1926-1989) era, 20th century
                                                             Decorated in kebori and carved in low relief with details of gilt, copper
                                                             and silver flat inlay, with windswept nadeshiko (pinks) and grasses
                                                             growing behind a jakago (stone-filled riverbank reinforcement) on
                                                             the river, the stones and poles in the foreground picked out in light
                                                             katakiribori (engraving with an angled chisel emulating brushstrokes);
                                                             signed with chiselled characters Yoshihiko kizamu (Chiselled by
                                                             Yoshihiko). 22.8cm x 22cm (9in x 8 5/8in).

                                                             A SILVER SWEETMEAT DISH
                                                             By Hata Zoroku II (1852-1932), Taisho era (1912-1926), 1923
                                                             The unadorned, roughly circular dish with a somewhat even rim,
                                                             signed on the base with a seal Zoroku Ko tsukuru (Made by Zoroku
                                                             the Recluse); with a wood tomobako storage box inscribed on the
                                                             lid Jungin kashibon (Pure silver confectionary tray), the lid with an
                                                             inscription inside indicating this item was presented as a wedding gift
                                                             to his daughter from Mr Yamanaka Chikuken, dated Taisho 12 (1923),
                                                             signed Mizunoto-i haru shichiju-o Zoroku tsukuru (Zoroku, an old
                                                             man of 70 years old, made this in the spring of 1923) with two seals.
