BUFFALO AND TIGER
By Genryusai Seiya, Meiji era (1868-1912),
late 19th/early 20th century
The large bull lowering its head, attempting
to fend off its attacker, the tiger standing on
its hindlegs, clambering onto the buffalo’s
back, opening its mouth wide to bite into
the buffalo’s neck, signed in a rectangular
reserve Seiya saku (Made by Seiya); with an
unassociated wood stand.
The buffalo and tiger group: 11.5cm x 32.3cm
(4½in x 12 11/16in); the wood stand: 15.5cm
x 32cm (6 1/8in x 12 9/16in). (2).
