                 A large rectangular cut and uncut silk velvet
                 kang carpet
                 19th century
                 Woven in three vertically joined sections with peach bloom red,
                 off-white, and gilt-wrapped threads on a midnight blue ground to
                 form a rectangular panel centered with a large medallion of a flower
                 blossom and intertwined scrolling tendrils, flanked symmetrically by
                 large peony flower heads surrounded by leaf scrolls, each corner
                 further ornamented with a stylized chilong, bordered with three bands
                 of squared scrolls, lotus and leaf scrolls, and confronting dragons
                 chasing flaming pearls; with yellow cotton backing.

                 A massive polychrome-woven brocade silk kang
                 cover
                 Late Qing/Republic period
                 Constructed from three sections joined vertically, woven in shades of
                 red and gray-green with metallic-wrapped thread highlights on a deep
                 blue ground forming a field centered with a massive composite lotus
                 flower surrounded by leafy stems with smaller blooms and a bat at
                 each corner, the border patterns including further lotus and leaf scrolls
                 above a wanzi meander; finished with blue cotton backing.

                 A rectangular woven silk brocade velvet kang cover
                 Late Qing/Republic period
                 Woven in two long sections and joined at the middle to create a
                 central medallion of four interlaced peony flowers with trailing leafy
                 tendrils woven in deep magenta, gray-blue and silvery metallic threads
                 on the dark mustard yellow velvet ground that continue in the narrow
                 band of dissolved dragons formed by squared C-scrolls and the larger
                 band along the edges filled with rampant dragons chasing flaming
                 pearls; the reverse lined with dark yellow cotton.
