WANLI SIX-CHARACTER MARK WITHIN A DOUBLE CIRCLE IN
UNDERGLAZE BLUE AND OF THE PERIOD (1573-1619)
The interior is decorated with a roundel enclosing a pair of mandarin ducks
swimming amongst waterweeds in a lotus pond on a bed of waves. The
exterior of the dish is decorated with further mandarin ducks amongst lotus
and waves.

A SMALL BLUE AND WHITE ‘DRAGON’ CUP
WANLI SIX-CHARACTER MARK IN UNDERGLAZE BLUE WITHIN
DOUBLE CIRCLES AND OF THE PERIOD (1573-1619)
The exterior of the cup is painted with two fve-clawed dragons separated by
two roundels containing the characters wan shou, ‘ten thousand longevity’,
above crashing waves. The interior has a large shou character for ‘longevity’.
