A JADE-INSET AND SILVER-INLAID ZITAN
BOX AND COVER
QING DYNASTY (1644-1911)
The top of the cover is carved with swirling sea
waves and an archaistic circular jade plaque with
pale greenish-white and russet colours. Each side
of the cover is carved with a dragon amidst stylised
scrolls. The stepped base is decorated to the sides
with archaistic patterns and inlaid with silver.

A BOXWOOD THREE-TIERED LOZENGE-
FORM BOX AND COVER
QING DYNASTY (1644-1911)
The top and bottom tiers of the box are fnely
carved to the sides with a band of lotus scrolls,
framing the wider middle tier which is carved
with a foral diaper ground. The top of the cover is
carved with an intricate network of lotus scrolls
growing from leafy scrolling foliage.
