A YELLOW AND RUSSET JADE BRUSH POT, BITONG
18TH CENTURY
The cylindrical brush pot is carved in low relief with two classical scroll panels,
one enclosing a spray of orchids, the other a fve-line poem highlighted in
gilt which eulogises the scent and beauty of the fowers. The stone is of a
greenish-yellow tone with a russet inclusion encircling the foot.
