The plump bird carved with spindly legs tucked up against a puffed
out chest flanked by finely detailed wings and talons, the details
utilizing the variegated colors of the stone.

A group of four jade decorations
Qing dynasty/Republic period
The first a peacock feather holder of cylindrical form; the second a
tubular pipe mouthpiece a with tapering neck and drilled terminal; the
third and fourth designed as flattened scroll fasteners, one of simple
elongated shield shape with a pierced opening, the other terminated
with a dragon head.

A group of three white jade scholar’s accessories
Late Qing/Republic period
Including a low circular-sectioned seal with a pierced tall square
handle, the seal face incised with a four-character inscription possibly
reading ‘yong shou you yu;’ a rectangular-sectioned ink-cake rest
of elaborately convoluted strap-work form; and a circular-sectioned
cylindrical seal attached to a yellow brass base.

A group of six jade and hardstone decorations
Republic period and earlier
The first a large mottled gray agate bangle of circular section; the
second a small mottled greenish-white jade child’s bangle with
convex exterior walls and upright inner walls; the third a grayish-white
jade plaque in the shape of a Tibetan chorten, inset with a miniature
carnelian figure of the Buddha; the fourth a pale straw-colored jade bi
carved in delicate raised relief with four archaistic characters on each
side; the fifth a mottled green and russet hardstone pendant plaque of
H-form with transverse vertical hole drilled through the center; and last
a rectangular jade plaque of mottled pale brown hue carved to one
side with a bearded recluse walking with a staff and the other with a
seated official enjoying a cup of wine.
