A fine white jade snuff bottle
19th century
The rounded rectangular bottle standing on an oval foot, rising to a
straight neck, flat rim, each of the main sides with a reserve panel, one
depicting a deer holding a lingzhi branch in its mouth, its head raised
toward a peach tree issuing from rockwork, a bat in flight nearby, the
other framing a horse galloping over waves beneath the sun in the sky
surrounded by cloud scrolls, the narrower sides decorated with lotus
flowers between acanthus leaves; the even white stone cast with small
areas of russet and deep gray inclusions.

A white jade pebble form snuff bottle
Well-hollowed, of a natural pebble form with a polished flat foot,
incised to one side with Shoulao holding his staff and a peach
standing next to an auspicious ram under a pine, the reverse
decorated with a phoenix strutting atop rocks issuing leafy peony
flowers; the white stone with oatmeal inclusions and pale russet veins.
