An inside-painted rock crystal snuff bottle
Ye Zhongsan, 1916
Of compressed globular form with a gently waisted neck, flat mouth
and foot rims, the interior painted in soft-hued colors around the walls
depicting a peaceful rural scene with a herd boy playing a flute on his
buffalo in a river near a fisherman sitting in a boat under a tree and
gazing out over a stretch of mountains in distance, with additional
figures along the band carrying either a hoe or firewood, one side
dated bingchen (1916), signed Ye Zhongsan, with a red seal mark.

The rounded bottle flanked with two faux lion mask-and-ring
handles, delicately painted to the interior with figures in casual
conversation in a tranquil landscape setting, the other side
decorated with a group of elegantly-attired figures sitting around a
table by a window revealing bamboo branches from the garden, one
side dated dingmao la yue, corresponding the last month of 1927,
with signature Ye Zhongsan, one seal.

An amber snuff bottle with figural decoration
Late 19th century
Well-hollowed, the compressed spherical bottle resting upon a
rounded oval foot ring, rising to a slightly waisted neck, flat rim, the
sides carved in relief with a continuous episodic scene depicting
figures on horseback or in a chariot followed by their servants passing
by a gated town mounted with an inscribed panel reading Xi jin guang.
