              A red overlay decorated glass snuff bottle

              Of rounded form with slightly sloping shoulders, with applied ruby-
              red overlay around the flat mouth rim and covering the clear glass
              bottle, finely carved continuously with an auspicious scene of animals
              including an egret, a deer holding a lingzhi branch, and a rabbit staring
              at a bird perching on a perforated rock, all among a craggy foreground
              issuing plants and gnarled pine trees, supported by a carefully finished
              oval foot ring.

              Designed as a vivid carp with gently curving fins and tail to indicate
              the motion of swimming, its scales and fins rendered with carefully
              incised lines.

              A red overlaid ‘snowflake’ glass snuff bottle
              19th century
              Well-hollowed, of compressed globular form, with a waisted neck,
              flat and relatively thin rim, worked with cranberry-red overlay carved
              with the sun rising from crashing waves and a bat in flight amid cloud
              scrolls, the opposing side featuring an eagle atop rocks between
              soaring mountain peaks at narrower sides, all above a short, slightly
              splayed oval foot ring.
