A BRIGHT BLUE OVERLAY ‘SNOWSTORM’-GROUND ‘CHAINED
HOUND AND HAWK’ GLASS SNUFF BOTTLE
1750-1850
Of flattened rounded shape, carved through a bright blue overlay on
one main face with a seated hound tied to a post by a length of chain
attached to his collar, the reverse with a hawk tethered by twisted rope
to a rocky platform, the narrow sides with lion-mask and twisted-rope
fixed-ring handles, the twisted-rope oval foot-ring also carved from the
overlay, all on a dense semi-transparent ‘bubble-suffused’ ground.
