           1760-1830年 霏雪地套紅料馬上有福鼻煙壺

For a comprehensive discussion of this rare group of red overlay
bottles depicting horses tied to the mask-ring handles rather than the
usual depiction of being tied to a hitching post, see Hugh Moss, Victor
Graham and Ka Bo Tsang, A Treasury of Chinese Snuff Bottles, The
Mary and George Bloch Collection, Vol. 5, Part 2, Glass, pp. 469-471,
no. 894. In that account, only three examples are known to have been
published, the Bloch example, another in the Art Institute of Chicago
(see Michael C. Hughes, Small Treasures: The Art Institute of Chicago,
Chinese Snuff Bottles, Hong Kong, 2015, pp. 84-85, no. 63), and
a third from the Mrs. Elma A. Claar collection, sold at Parke-Bernet
Galleries, New York, 12 May 1970, lot 423.

To this group must now be added the larger Curtis example.
