     A PAIR OF CARVED YELLOW GLASS VASES

     QIANLONG INCISED FOUR-CHARACTER MARKS AND OF THE
     PERIOD (1736-1795)

     Each vase is carved around the body with two archaistic taotie
     masks divided by a pair of archaistic birds, set between a bow-
     string band and a band of upright lappets around the foot. The
     shoulder is flanked by a pair of taotie mask loose ring handles
     between two floral designs. The glass is of egg-yolk yellow
     colour.
