A CLOISONNE ENAMEL VASE, GU
QIANGLONG PERIOD (1736-1795)
The vase is cast of archaistic gu form, decorated
on each side of the slightly bulging mid-section
with a stylised taotie mask. The trumpet neck
and spreading foot are enamelled with hanging
plantain leaves enclosing stylised taotie masks.
The exterior and interior of flared mouth are
similarly embellished with four lotus sprays
below a band of ruyi-head.
