A PAINTED-ENAMEL RUBY-BACK DISH
QING DYNASTY, 18TH CENTURY
The dish is finely enamelled on the interior with two butterflies
fluttering above a bouquet of flowers, enclosed within a hexafoil
cartouche, and surrounded by three further concentric registers
of differently-coloured diaper grounds, with six shaped panels
enclosing fruiting sprays on the outermost register. The back is
covered with a bright pink enamel, while the base is painted with
a spray of camellia.
