A CLOISONNE ENAMEL
ARCHAISTIC CENSER AND
COVER, FANGDING
QIANLONG PERIOD (1736-1795)
The censer is raised on four dragon-shaped
legs, decorated on each side with a taotie
mask below a band of confronted chilong,
separated by vertical flanges on four sides
and corners. The mourh rim is set with a
pair of upright loop handles. The domed
cover is decorated with pierced foliage and
angular chilong, surmounted by a gilt finial
in the form of a Buddhist lion.
