     A CLOISONNE ENAMEL INCENSE HOLDER

     QING DYNASTY, 18TH CENTURY

     The shallow dish is finely enamelled on the interior with four
     yellow-ground ruyi-shaped cartouches, each enclosing a chilong,
     evenly spaced encircling the central vase-shaped holder of
     compressed form, all below peony scrolls and auspicious emblems
     on a turquoise ground. The peony scrolls are repeated on the
     exterior, and the base is decorated with a further floral scroll
     bearing four lotus blooms.
