A FINELY CARVED BOXWOOD TREE TRUNK-
FORM BRUSH POT

LATE MING-EARLY QING DYNASTY, 17TH CENTURY

The irregularly-shaped brush pot is naturalistically carved in the
form of a tree trunk detailed with nodules imitating tree bark, in
relief on one side with branches of flowering prunus, incised on
the other side with a poetic inscription followed by the signature
Shen Tang and a seal reading ban cai.
