FOUR KAGAMIBUTA NETSUKE
19th century
With ivory bowls, one narwhal tusk bowl and mixed metal plates, the
first with three birds in flight above foaming waves, the ivory carved in
openwork with flowers and foliage, signed; the second with warriors
concealed in the hollow of a tree, signed Mingyoku; the third with two
ladies wading and gathering shells; the fourth incised with a bearded
figure holding a sword, signed Soyo; and a leather tobacco pouch with
metal clasp in the form of a group of warriors, attached kagamibuta
netsuke, leather kiseruzutsu and two silver and bamboo kiseru
decorated with butterflies and flowers.
The largest netsuke 4.7cm (1.7/8in) diam. (9).

A GROUP OF JAPANESE AND BURMESE WORKS OF ART
18th/19th century
Comprising: two Burmese ivory dha handles, elaborately pierced and
carved with mythical characters; a boxwood millefleurs two-case inro;
a further wood two-case inro carved with a narrative scene; a mixed
metal tsuba decorated in relief with three puppies in a garden, the
reverse with a meandering stream; and a carved wood lion finial.
The largest dha handle 18cm (7.1/8in) long. (6).

Edo Period
Deeply carved in shishiaibori with a rakkan seated amongst pine
and rockwork, with central cord peg, signed Ryuzan to the reverse.
