KOPF EINES BUDDHA SHAKYAMUNI. - Rhenish private collection. Acquired at
Khmer. Post Angkor period (since 1431). Michael Woerner Oriental Art.
Bronze with greenish and partly red € 5.000 – 7.000 | $ 5.550 – 7.770
patina. Inside with casting core. The face
shows a calm expression with almost
closed eyes, arched by strong eyebrows.
Beneath the flat nose, the full lips framed
by contour lines. The hair presented as
small hemispherical elevations, separated
from the face and ears by clear, elegant
lines. The ushnisha is rather flat and with
a wide opening for the crowning missing
today. Height 20cm. Mounted on a base.
Condition B. Both earlobes broken off.
Rupture line at the neck.
